Personal Info
My wife Anne and I live in Oak Ridge, Tennessee with
our son Jonathan, our daughter Laura, and dogs Pepper, and Penny (Elmer passed away December 2011). We've been married for sixteen years now, and are enjoying our time together. Anne works remotely for Humana,
in Louisville, Kentucky, and I work for a contractor of the Department of Energy, in Oak Ridge. In my spare time, I enjoy driving my 2008 Corvette Z06. I used to own a 2009 Shelby GT500,
which I took 1/4 mile drag racing, and used to race my 1999 Firebird Formula too. Anne tends to steer clear of the car stuff, but
she is a wonderful singer, and has been part of many choir and singing groups.
Before living in Oak Ridge, we lived in Knoxville for seven months, a house in Gaithersburg, Maryland for six and a half years, and before that, we lived in a condo for two years, in Silver Spring, Maryland (Aspen Hill
area). I owned a 1995 Mustang GT, which I modified to death, including such
modifications as adding a supercharger, and converting it to
manual transmission.
Going back in time even further, I lived with two friends from high school (Eric and Josh) in a house in Silver Spring. Before that, the three of us lived in an apartment. We all worked for the same company for most of our three years together, and we had some really great times! I spent most of my time either hanging out with friends, working on my car, working at work, or going to school. I went to college part time for a zillion years, starting with Montgomery College, and continuing on to the University of Maryland and finally University of Maryland University College. I began working on a degree in psychology, but later switched to Computer and Information Science (CMIS), with a psychology minor.
I was born, raised and lived in Montgomery County, Maryland for most of my life, going to Forest Knolls Elementary, Eastern Middle School and Montgomery Blair High School. I met a lot of good friends during my grade school years, most of which I've managed to keep in touch with. I met my wife in high school, in the spring of 1992, when I was a senior and she was a freshman.
News
Our move to Oak Ridge has been great, and we're enjoying the
community. We bought a house in July 2008, and we've really settled in!
My close friend Brian F. Schreurs passed away on December 8th, 2006, near his home town of Morgantown, WV. It was a tragic auto accident and his death was a complete shock. This was a huge loss for me, and was a tough time for everyone, including his wife of almost nine years, his family, and all of his friends.
I will miss you Brian... You were my best friend.
Anne has been enjoying her job, getting to travel every so often, and I'm doing Linux administration for SAIC, mainly working with Red Hat systems.
In September 2006 I attended the International Motorcyle Speed Trials by BUB, which is a motorcycle-only racing event held at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah. It was a grueling but fun trip across the country with two friends. I managed 158 mph on my Sprint ST!
I made a return trip to Bonneville, in August/September 2014. I bought a 175 HP (stock) 2001 Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, and added a turbo in 2013, which took it up to 250 RWHP. The goal was to reach 200 mph, but the weather conditions weren't great. The salt was soft, wet, and didn't offer much traction. I managed 188 mph (185 in the timed mile). But I enjoyed the trip, riding over 4000 miles out to UT/NV and back on the Hayabusa, solo!
I've sold the Shelby GT500, Firebird and 2006 Triumph Sprint ST, moving on to a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. I enjoyed the Shelby for over six years (January 2009 - July 2015), the Firebird for over seven years (August 2001 - January 2009) and had the Sprint for four years (October 2005 - September 2009). Before that motorcycle I had a 2005 Kawasaki Ninja 500R, and I've had my motorcycle license since July 2004 (starting with a 1986 Honda Rebel 250). The Sprint was a great sport-tourer, but a 500 horsepower Mustang (and then a 505 hp Corvette) was too hard to resist! Anne was driving our 2003 Toyota Avalon XL (210 HP 3.0L V6 - not bad!), but now drives a 328 HP, 3.7L V6 2010 Infiniti G37x.
While I had the Shelby, my daily driving duties were handled by a used 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra (we decided we weren't truck people!). 305 HP 4.6L V8, with 300 LBS-FT of torque. It's a rare (#406 of 2000) Mystic Metallic car, which changes color from green to purple, depending on the light. Unfortunately I wrecked it in an accident, in March 2015. Totaled by the insurance, I sold it to a nice gentleman from Knoxville, who works on Mustangs.
